Astrit Hamza, MD, PhD

Astrit Hamza, MD, PhD is an Assistant Professor of Surgery and a specialist in General Surgery. He earned his Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Prishtina, Faculty of Medicine, and later specialized in General Surgery at the University Clinical Center of Kosova. He completed his PhD in Medical Sciences at the University of Prishtina, focusing on the effects of selective cyclooxygenase-2 inhibitors on microcirculation and intestinal function after liver resection.

Dr. Hamza has undergone extensive training across Europe, including at the University of Heidelberg, RWTH Aachen University, and the University of Rijeka. His expertise covers emergency medicine, laparoscopic and colorectal surgery, abdominal ultrasound, and transplant surgery. He has participated in numerous international surgical workshops and seminars, including those organized by the American Austrian Foundation and Weill Cornell Medical College.

With a strong commitment to medical education, Dr. Hamza has been actively involved in modern teaching methodologies and curriculum development in higher education. He has completed training in advanced teaching techniques at the University of Prishtina and Friedrich-Alexander University in Germany.

Dr. Hamza is also a dedicated researcher, having published several peer-reviewed articles in high-impact journals indexed in Web of Science and Scopus. His publications cover a range of surgical topics, including liver resection, endoscopic procedures, and complex surgical case reports.

Currently, he continues to educate and mentor future surgeons while practicing at the University Clinical Center of Kosova. His contributions to surgery, research, and medical education make him a respected figure in the field.
